*Project: Mooncircle

The dualism displayed on this album is impressive.  It has the ability to root you firmly into the present moment while simultaneously taking your soul on a journey through the ether.  This one is solely an instrumental album with beats that melodically curve and wind and intertwine themselves into your psyche.  Interestingly, the inspiration behind this album came from a little girl from Moscow who wanted to go to the moon.  The good people at Project: Mooncircle took on the challenge and made her dream come true.  Not necessarily in a realistic sense but definitely in the fantasy world of music.  For me the experience of this album is reminiscent of ‘The Wizard of Oz’.  It starts off kind of scary, you get hella lost, you feel far away, you meet some dope characters, you get kinda lonely, you learn some lessons and you overcome some things.  Then when all is said and done you return home, safe and sound, and definitely a better person than when you first set out on your journey.  If you have ever listened to a Project: Mooncircle release before then you are well aware of their inclinations towards artistry and genre expansion.  This is an offering that highlights many producers on the PM roster.  Do your self a favor and dose up on some inspired hip hop beats.  You will be a better person for it and become an honorary astronaut.

This is a great combo of smooth hip hop beats and beautiful soulful female vocals.  Numaads is comprised of the oh so lovely voice of Esperanzah and is backed by production from Sense.  They are reppin the far and amazing land of Amsterdam which has been proving itself to be a powerful producer of hip hop as of late.  Sense also does production for The Q4 which has put out some amazing material.  This lil EP also includes remixes from Robert Koch and J. Rawls.  This is maybe not so much hip hop as it is soul but I think a lot of hip hop heads will appreciate the vibe.  Plus it was released by Project:Mooncircle who as far as I’m concerned have yet to put out a shitty album.

Wowwwww I just discovered this group of dutch producers and my mind is blown.  Such an amazing fresh and deep sound with heavy jazz and blues notes and live instrumentation.  Much more complex than many of the hip hop producers out today.  Originally The Q4 were a 4 piece group but have since reduced to a trio of Arts the Beatdoctor, Sense and STW.  The inspiration for their group name, The Q4 or Quadriphoniquartet, comes from the 1970′s when they used to sell quadriphonic setups that used 4 channels of which were positioned in different parts of the room and emitted a signal that was partially or entirely different from the other channels.  The final product was a brilliant piece of music.  I’m not even big on instrumentals but I am loving this shit.  And this release does contain a few tracks with vocals so it’s a good mix.
