Mystic

Wow this album has grown on me so damn much.  There is just so much lyrical substance on this album its ridiculous.  The Grouch & Eligh are such good souls and really are for a big improvement of humanity in general.  I love how they are not afraid to call people out for the bullshit they are contributing to the world and they certainly aren’t afraid of taking a different path in life.  But the best thing about it is that you don’t get the sense that they are preaching at you, you just feel like you are sitting there listening to one of your homies kick some real deep shit.  This is an album that may just make you a better person by listening to it and on top of that it can provide some strong support for getting through some hard times.

The Grouch & Eligh – ‘ Old Souls ft. Blu’

Aight this song is actually kinda old but Mystic was talking about it on twitter today and this is such an ill track!  I didn’t want it to go under the radar.  This is kinda a funny vid too, I love seeing musicians in their element.  Scope this beat tho, so dope!  Waxolutionists have some more really sicc tracks on their myspace page, I love their style ——> http://www.myspace.com/waxolutionists

Waxolutionists – ‘Dance With Me (ft. Dave Ghetto, Hezekiah & Mystic)’

The first time I heard this album I was like :-O!  It was absolutely amazing the depth and raw emotion that Mystic can congure up.  I knew Mystic as a political/social activist before I ever heard her music and I was already intrigued by her views on life and the world.  She genuinely cares about humanity as a whole and is not afraid to question the current state of our world and the way we chose to live our lives from day to day.  This album touches base on some heavy topics and some painful issues of which everyone can relate to in some way.  She touches base on anything from losing someone close to you in an unexpected way (Fallen Angels) to growing up in a single-parent home (Fatherless Child) to the daily struggle of trying to make money and a living (The Gotta’s).  ‘Fatherless Child’ is one of the realest songs of all time point blank period.  Its almost like therapy listening to this album because you are forced to face painful issues from your own life that maybe you have been supressing and trying to ignore.  Mystic reminds me of a female version of The Grouch, Pep Love or Zumbi (Zion I).  They are so good at dropping knowledge on spiritual themes without sounding preachy plus they all have really dope personalities.  And in the case of Mystic her inner beauty definitely matches her outer beauty.  I can’t believe it took me this long to give her a chance but I knew from the moment I heard the first song that she would quickly become a favorite of mine.  Truly a beautiful soul and an extremely talented artist.
