*Mean Street Records

So for as long as I’ve liked hip hop I have always kinda hated on 2Mex.  I don’t know if it was his voice or style or what but lets just say that it wasn’t love at first listen.  But alas here I am recommending him to all my fellow hip hop homies so obviously my opinions have changed over time.  2Mex was one of those emcees that I listened to one song for a couple seconds and assumed that I knew that he was not for me.  But slowly 2Mex started to creep into my ipod thanks to his work with the Visionaries, who I liked from the beginning, for what it’s worth.  I think every hip hop fan can admit at some point to being variable with their tastes and not always giving artists the listen they deserve.  Fast forward a few years and I found myself exploring 2Mex’s solo material.  Once I had checked my bias at the door it was easy to love what 2Mex was serving up.  Not only do I approve of the dope title, B-Boys in Occupied Mexico, but I also found it very easy to stay entertained from beginning to end with 2Mex’s insightful lyrics, somewhat dark sense of humor and edgy beat selections.  Don’t be like me and miss out on a versatile emcee, he deserves every fan he has attracted and then some.

2Mex – ‘ Humble is the Style of the Day’

Man Scarub is deep as hell.  Sometimes that gets lost on LL releases but when it is just Scarub front and center you really get a sense of his poetic and artistic nature.  And much like The Grouch, Eligh and actually most of the Living Legends he has a very positive outlook on life.  For me Scarub might be the most soulful member of the collective.
