I often hear people complain about underground hip hop by saying that the rappers use too big of words and act like intellectual elitists.  Well you know what? I think this attitude is pretty indicative of a dumbass haha.  No but really Pep Love is intelligent and yes he uses lots of big words, all in a row sometimes , but if you are patient enough to really pay attention to what he is saying, he is saying some really impressive shit.  And if you already like big words then holy moly Pep is gonna be your new favorite wordsmith.  His spiritual views of the world are so refreshing and uplifting and yet he maintains that raw hip hop edge that is a must for any great emcee.

Sometimes its rough for people who come out of large collectives, such as the Hieroglyphics, to gain any amount of solo appeal.  But Pep manages to shine when the spotlight is solely on him.  I often listen Ascension when I am looking for some worldly wisdom and something inspirational that can bring me out of a funk.  If you like Ascension its definitely worth checking out Ascension Side C also.  Side C is a bit more raw, dark and grimy than Ascension but both deserve prime real-estate in your music library.
